Manipulative report cards--Malpractice to retain admissions

Q:  "Manipulative report cards--Malpractice to retain admissions"

ASHOK KUMAR-UNV

"why so called branded schools , after charging fee since 12 years, suddenly told parents in classes 9 and 11 that we can't continue with your child in board classes. This is the case of malpractices in education by preparing manipulative report cards to please parents in home exams till class 8, this starts from very begining when teacher practice worksheet with students and take test, obviously they scored 20/20in all UT's, parents starts ignoring the weakness and schools happy with retaining students with them.

In some cases parents know that their child doesn't deserve full Marks but they happy to see the report card.

This game of 20/20 is promoting rote learning, parents and teachers should be honest to each other and dare to share the TRUTH with each other.

Please save these children from rat race.

Fighting against the dangers of manipulative schools is a battle that is never finished and never completely won: every newly appointed staff and every newly hired employee has the potential to hit the “restart” button, and
the game begins again because it is a life long process of such schools for their survival and economical existence.

➖Source for this problem:

It starts from Classroom and results in schools. These incapable inmate teachers to show off their Classroom results good. Otherwise they may have been questioned by the school authorities...

It's happening in classes upto class 8...

When these children comes to the upper classes, they meet the teachers who can't help the children feeding by spoon.

The children till the classes are given limited topics and rehearsal again and again throughout the year. Naturally the children do shine well.

Whereas in higher classes that's impossible. The child fails. School worries at results and tries to drop.

Here who is the manipulation manufacturer?

➖Our problem is:

• System of Education is expecting ethical and effective implimentation of the curriculum in schools.

• Schools are expecting good results and good business through results with less expenses and huge fees.

• Parents are expecting their children to outshine in academics though they know the egg is cracked, still.

From every angle the focal point is school.

Now what can be done at the school level?

We can not change other two: system and parents

➖The best way to curb this malpractices in schools:

Let's think about Classroom.

Generally non board teachers are less burdened. It is quite true they are little free from result worries.

1. Autonomy to the teacher

Therefore the best way is grooming the children by the teacher concern of board from class 6 onwards till class 10. The teacher of a subject get 4 years time to get the children groomed. Also the very first year the teacher can understand the strength and weaknesses of every child and start teaching accordingly.

Here the teacher is accountable for the results in board.

Meanwhile if a student is not getting groomed, the teacher can try some other way of special extra teaching and care atleast upto the minimum pass level.

Still if not, Parents can be called and informed the status of the child, the corrective steps taken....

Still not, Parents can be convinced and whatever the school decides. But the school should keep proper records and anectode reports of the child to face in case any legal issues.

2. Common Question paper from outside

Make school examination question paper from outside teachers. You can take support from sahodaya group schools within the district or within the state or from known friendly schools. Or subject experts, online questions are also available for it.

This is possible because syllabus is same within the state or district of any board whether CBSE/ICSE/State board.....

3. Exchange answer scripts with other schools for evaluation

Answer scripts can be evaluated with the help of other school teachers. Reciprocating the same to them with the help of a standard key for evaluation.

4. Leader's role

• Be active in monitoring Classroom Activities specially syllabus covered.
• Be InTouch with exceptional children and their parents.
• Motivate children in the classroom and address their problems in learning.
• Have a one to one discussion with teachers very often. Find from them the slow learners and seek their guidance to help the children or guide him.
• Motivate Teachers to work in ethical environment.
