Education's Deadly sins and their redemption

Education's Deadly sins and their redemption
I think, the single most serious issue that hinders education, both qualitative and quantitative are :
1. values and skills.
Parent side:
Values to be taught not only from school it starts from home.
Parents should not provoke children against teachers.
They should teach them the value of Guru.
Parents need to play a proactive role at home.
Today, kids are exposed to so many gadgets that they tend to get aggressive.
The child must have been uncomfortable, secluded at home, and not able to talk to anyone.
These are the outbursts of such students who are emotionally not strong.
They are not brought up in the
right manner by the parents.
School side:
There should be uniform policy from government, stakeholders, wherein experts counsel students as part of the curriculum and an open dialogue is started with this generation regarding
handling of various issues (sex, materialists, physical hygiene, poverty, corruption etc.) which is not
openly talk to them.
Our newer generations look at the Indian value system as something not so cool
and frown upon these ideals.
Skills to be taught from the childhood onwards.
The field which kids are interested to be trained from the young age.
Definitely they will excel in school and in life also.

5C’s for GenZ kids

5C’s for GenZ kids
As per the statistics revealed by Wikipedia 50% of Indian population is below the age of 25 which is best in the world. We claim to be the young country in terms of future workforce. It is imperative to understand that half of Indian population is studying in schools therefore it is gargantuan task for the educators and school leaders to train and develop these priceless Human Resources.
There are 5C’s viz confidence, caring & compassion, career consciousness, commitment and competence which every Indian children must have in them.
1). Confidence: This is preliminary trait which every student must posses to grow up as a resourceful National asset. Teachers must try to inculcate, I can do attitude among students. Future kids must be aware that life will throw challenges and they must be nurtured to take it on. Their self belief mechanism must be very strong.
2). Career Conciousness: Life is a blessing. We get only one life to live, therefore, there must be a purpose of life. There is no denying the fact that in prevailing scenario there are ample career avenues but irony is that GEN Z kids have no perception of life. Majority of the students don’t do any research about their careers. Till their 20’s they have no idea what they are born to be. Schools and parents must assess the strength, interest and skills of a child then they must be guided to chase the passion. Career Counselling sessions should start at the early childhood.
3). Caring & compassionate: Modernisation and advancement of western culture has hi jacked our youth. Our social fibre is becoming weak. The mad race to accumulate every materialistic possession has eroded the values like ethics, compassion, morality. These are left only for reading in books. Furthermore, with the advent of gadgets family connect is at the brink of annihilation. Our youth is very amiable but only with their peer. When it comes to parents they are disgruntled. Parents must be given due respect loved and accepted like girl friend and boy friend. Hence, we have to shoulder this responsibility also.
4). Commitment: This is a basic ingredient for being a successful human being. Steadfastness for the purpose should be on the bed rocks of an individual. Commitment in relationships, commitment towards work is necessitated. Teachers and family should collectively foster this quality among youth. Live in relationship is a recent menace. This is gaining popularity as it is easy to stay together without getting committed with each other for whole life. Having crush and then break up is a way of life because to maintain relationships patience and perseverance is required which Gen Z is bad at. In the absence of commitment the connect with anything is not possible.
5). Competent: If India has to be a super power to take on the world, then we need to have best researchers, entrepreneurs, leaders, scholars, teachers, scientists, philosophers, players, bureaucrats. We being the most young nation in the world should have army of competent workforce. This hurricane transformation is only possible when every child is equipped and trained with latest skills and technology.
Every thing is possible for a person with right attitude possessing right skills having his eyes set on right goal.

Schools vs Coaching Centres

Schools vs Coaching Centres
All students deserve an education that prepares them for college, career and global citizenship. Teachers and schools around the world are transforming education by embracing innovation. Education leaders are recognizing the power and promise of personalized learning, whereby students receive the instruction they need when they need it. Teachers are blending in-person instruction with technology to differentiate lessons, using real-time data to personalize learning and allow for mastery-based progression, and they are incorporating student choice into instructional decisions.
The highly competitive pathway to higher education in India has created a very unhealthy environment in the Indian education system. The primacy of the schools has been eroded gradually and the coaching centres have gained predominance. All the stakeholders in the education system face multiple pain points due to compulsion the students have to undergo in juggling with learning at school which prepares them for the board exams and also the coaching centres which prepare them for the competitive exams.

School vs Coaching Centre

The pressure on the students has increased manifold as they have to contend with the twin challenges of learning at the schools as well as at the coaching centres which are progressing at two different paces. In their anxiety to assist their children to prepare well for the competitive exams, the parents make the students go to multiple coaching centres for different subjects. The students have to get up at unearthly hours to attend the coaching centres at different locations in the city; learn lessons, submit assignments and give tests at school as well as coaching centres which are not synchronised. This puts enormous pressure on the students as most of them do not find time for any other hobby and even their bio-clock goes for a toss.

Parents Anxiety

Few anxious parents, who want their children to achieve success in academics as well as their careers, unwittingly add to the agony of the children. The pathetic state of affairs triggers a great amount of anxiety among many parents who are worried about the physical and mental state and the safety of their children.

Primacy of School

Schools are also under pressure from parents to achieve high academic results are left with no choice but to load the students with additional work, as they do not have any control over the after-school activities of the children. By offering the personalised learning to the students, the schools can regain their primacy by providing everything that a student needs under one roof and also reduce the anxiety of parents by facilitating and providing coaching for competitive exams, create opportunities for the students to pursue their hobbies.

After School Support Program

I am of the firm belief that innovation is the key to preparing students to meet the challenges of higher education and the requirements for the all round development of the students. A hybrid learning platform that provides teachers with tools to personalize learning for students, enabling mastery-based progression and increasing student engagement, growth, and achievement is the need of the hour

BEING AN EXPERT READING TEACHER

BEING AN EXPERT READING TEACHER
It is naïve to think that a finished teaching product can be created in four semesters of any teacher preparation program. These programs instead provide the knowledge and skills for preservice teachers to begin their journey toward being and becoming skillful professionals and, eventually, expert teachers.
The Importance of Knowledge:
A body of knowledge is an essential component of being and becoming an expert in any domain.
To become an expert teacher, there are four kinds of  knowledge necessary:
pedagogical knowledge, pedagogical content knowledge, content
knowledge, and knowledge of learners and learning.
Pedagogical knowledge:
This is knowledge of general teaching strategies used to impart information, teach skills, or enhance learning in all subject areas. This include strategies such as cooperative learning, expository teaching, discovery learning, problem-based learning, inquiry, universal design for learning, and various forms of multi-level instruction.
Expert teachers have a toolbox filled with an assortment of these strategies that can be used with a variety of students in a variety of situations.
Pedagogical content knowledge.
This is knowledge of teaching strategies used to teach specific content or skills. For example, expert teachers know the best strategies for  teaching reading science, math, writing, or other content areas. This is the kind of knowledge we have at our professional development.
Content knowledge
This is a body of knowledge related to the subject matter that is to be taught. Expert teachers have subject area expertise. For example, math teachers know a lot about math, social studies teachers know a lot about social studies, etc.
This body of  knowledge guides the expert teacher in deciding what is taught and in what order. Expert elementary and special education teachers often are required to have expertise in a variety of areas.
Knowledge of learners and learning
This is knowledge of the learning process, learning theories, and human development as it relates to social, emotional, intellectual, moral, and personal development.
Expert teachers know about their students and how these students learn best. This blog will help you to increase your understanding of this type of knowledge.
Enhancing Education Through Professional Development
Improving and enhancing education is not overly-complicated.Simple enable and provide incentives for teachers to develop all four types of knowledge. A simple, pragmatic, and economic way to develop pedagogical content knowledge.
